Professor Cavallaro's class may seem daunting at first and it might take time to figure out the best way for you to approach her lectures. You eventually will. Highly recommend making time to meet with her, as she is wonderful to talk with and will help clear up any anxiety you might be dealing with about her class. Outline early. Ask questions.

Funny and entertaining lectures. No cold calling, but participate if you want to be challenged and learn how she will analyze answers on an exam! DO THE PRACTICE MIDTERM. Extremely unapproachable in office, borderline rude.

A little intimidating at first but she is very funny as the semester goes on. She is a wealth of knowledge so just read the material and participate in class to really get the most out of it. Final is tough but if you prepare well beforehand you should be good.

Smart, kind, & not easy. Don't be afraid at first, she can seem intimidating, but genuinely loves her students. Always willing to talk in office hours, help explain things when needed. Calls on students randomly but never a jerk about it. Very entertaining in class. Tough exam but a fair grader. Plenty of examples in class, attend & pay attention!

She is a great lecturer. Do the readings, and when in class, take notes on how she structures black-letter law and arguments for P and D. Take any practice tests she gives. She wants you to apply a structured formula for writing her final. She is inspirational, making me love crim law, even though I have no relation to the subject.

Pay attention in class. She goes over so many practice problems, but don't stress about the reading. She's passionate, humorous and highly intelligent; with a goal to teach rather than embarrass the unprepared. You are lucky to have her.

Cavallaro is probably the most intelligent person I've ever met. With her, expect to learn Criminal Law from more of a prosecutor's perspective. Lectures keep your attention, though she's not so easy to take notes on - she makes up this by doing a brief recap of the previous lecture at the start of each lecture. Look at the practice exams!!

Professor Cavallaro is tough. There is no doubt about it. But, you will learn so much about evidence. Take her class if you really want to learn the material. I have to say that I cried after the exam because it was brutal, but apparently I knew more than I thought because I did well. Wonderful professor and very funny!

Brilliant mind, but be prepared to take a ride on the reading railroad --her syllabus goes from one end of the textbook to another, and at the end she tries to lay the tracks all together. Uh, no.

AVOID! Cavallaro knows criminal law however she is not an effective teacher of criminal law. This woman belongs in the courtroom, not the classroom. No PPTs, supplements, classes are all verbal lecture. After the final, Cavallaro had no issue bluntly stating (in private) that I would fail the Mass Bar based on concepts I discussed on my exam essay.

Cavallaro dominates every area of law she teaches. I had her for both Criminal Law and Evidence and found her to be excellent. Extremely well versed, caring and devoted to seeing her students succeed. Also extremely intelligent, to the point where you will become a better legal speaker just by listening to her. Tough but fair/rewarding exam.

Smart professor, but not the ideal teacher, b/c she is short tempered and can go off in many different directions. Seems uninterested in students and aloof. Pretty clear in class discussions. Few published articles and cites appear moderate to light. Worked for famous HLS professor and was assistant DA in Boston.

Don't get me wrong. Good prof and knows her stuff. Her Powerpoint slides, however, don't really add anything, but just restate rules verbatim. Discussion and hypos good indicators of analysis needed for exam. Don't just learn rules in isolation; learn how they connect to and affect each other. She wants you to "walk through" analysis, step by step.

She's brilliant and crystal clear. She goes over lots of problems to make sure you understand everything. Very nurturing and tries to encourage people to speak in class but doesn't pressure you. The exam was difficult but she is a fair grader. Wish I took her for Prof. Resp. as well.

I loved her class. This was the most useful class for a criminal defense attorney. I am using what she taught me every day now that I'm a lawyer.
