In no uncertain terms, SH's courses changed my life. I loved his bravura in class and I was surprised to see how very accessible he was outside of class, even though he was so busy.

Oh, Hauerwas knows... A great professor. A man of many contradictions, yet a man of unwavering truth and knowledge. Truly a complicated and brilliant man.

Comment:

The Hauerwas "mystique" is overblown, but he usually gives an interesting class. He has engaging ideas but does shuts down conversation when a student disagrees with him. He is usually a kind man outside of class, despite how busy he is.
