Dr. Potter seemed a bit eccentric to me at first, but it turns out he's a very nice guy with a philosophy that chemistry "should never be hard or scary for students." Great person, but... although he tries, he just can't lecture.... Avoid, but only if you've never taken chem before. From past mediocre AP Chem performance, I did just fine.

Super nice guy but if you want to learn chemistry, choose someone else. Very rarely does he actually teach the stuff on the test, rather he flies through examples and confuses us and himself along the way. Be prepared to do a lot of self-teaching.

He has literally never taught us anything. It's one of those courses that you have to teach yourself.

He's a good easy prof. If its for Chem. 1. Hes not supper difficult but words his exams weirdly so it makes it way more difficult. when he solves problems in class he also makes it more difficult. His office hours really do help, and if you take the time amd effort for him, he'll take the time and effort for u, no matter how long it takes.

Nice professor, hard class contents. But he is a really nice grader, he does care more what you learned about biochem than your eventual result of tests.

As said before, without any previous Chemistry you're kind of out of luck. Potter is not a teacher. He is brilliant at his own personal professional endeavors, but he can not teach Gen Chem very well. Maybe there is a lack of interest? Granted, if you go to his office and ask for help one on one, he is incredibly patient and kind.

Biochem. Here are the phrases you'll hear in this course: "high fructose corn syrup is bad" and "but of course, this won't be on the test." Dr. Potter is fun & smart. If you study the pictures in the text, you'll do great on the tests. But don't try and memorize everything he says. It won't be on the test.

I had taken the class before with Symcox and got a C, but if this is your first time and you don't know the the material, go with Symcox. Potter is a nice guy and tries to help, but he simply can't teach. People in my class were always confused, and he is simply unable to explain things. I got an A, but that's only because it was review for me..
