If you truly enjoy international law, you will be fine. Professor Epps can be a bit dry and slow moving at times, the Harris book is great, there were no surprises on the open-book exam, and is always happy to talk to you in office hours. She's a slow talker with a lovely British accent -copy the slides,do the small readings, and you'll be fine.

I LOVE VALERIE EPPS. A must-take at Suffolk Law for anyone interested in public international law. Her laws of war class is a small class, mostly lecture, but it is really interesting. She is approachable, cares about her students, and her power points sum up the reading and main points. Take home exam was pretty straightforward - no surprises.

Rambles and gets off track a lot then rushes lectures without giving you time to understand. The book is terrible. I have an IL background and thought I did really well on the exam, my grade didn't reflect that. Guaranteed ppl doing the paper a better grade on the re-write but ppl taking the exam get one shot. Avoid if you actually want to learn IL

Valerie Epps is an internationally respected scholar who knows her stuff. I learned more in her class than in any other class at Suffolk. If you do well in her class, then you should give yourself a lot of credit.

Did not prepare for class time. Does not know the law very well. Rambles. Not up to date on the real world practice of this area of the law. Avoid.

Well-known professor and shows a depth of knowledge in her subject. Very effective as a professor. We had a big problem in our class because the older (40+) LLM and night students monopolized class discussion with irrelevant comments. She doesn't handle the "ball hog" type of student well and needs to control her class and keep it focused.

One of the worst profs at Suffolk Law. The fact that she runs the Int'l law concentration is tragic. Very smart, but her teaching style is ackward and uninteresting. If youre looking for a good int'l law class try EU with Dillion. You will learn more from her in one class than all semester with Epps. Stay away.
