Comment:

Best math teacher by far! He explains everything and if you dont understand he will take as much time needed to make sure you understand. There is a lot of homework, but the same amount Ive had in all my other math classes. He is a wonderful teacher!

Comment:

I am currently enrolled in Math 135 (Trig) with Charles Curtis. The lecture, notes, and homework are always a breeze and seem comprehensible. The test, however, are the complete opposite. They are largely no calculator and they're overall way too difficult. I'm probably going to retake with ex-wife who also teaches Math at this school. :)

Comment:

Best math teacher I have ever had. I am terrible at math, but Dr. Curtis made it easy. This class does have a lot of homework, but it is really good practice for the exams. He gives 30 points extra credit and there is extra credit on every exam. He is easy to reach after class, responds to emails within minutes, and will help if you ask.

For being an online professor, he takes too long to respond to emails. Online profs should usually be very accessible since we don't get in-class time with them. Usually by the time (3-5 business days later) he answers emails/questions--it's too late.

Although the work isn't too hard he teaches opposite from the homework. ALSO calculators are not allowed to that sucks too. If you work for your grade you'll do fine but don't get into it thinking it's super easy.

Best Teacher at MSSU, had him for calc 1 and differential equations. Both times he was extremely helpful and genuinely cared about the students. He is a quite difficult teacher, but you will learn a lot.

Professor Curtis is not lenient towards anything within this class. There is homework to do every night. You have to participate in groups within the class. Overall I could not understand his teaching.

Curtis is a great teacher and always willing to help. Its calc so it's going to be difficult but if you go to class, take notes, actually do the homework and study you will do fine. He doesn't try to trick you on the tests, and doesn't try and give you the hardest problems. He actually wants you to know the material.

This was the best Math teacher I have taken at Southern yet. Yes, he gives hours of homework everyday, but that's to be expected with Calculus. It's a hard class, expect to work hard. But, he makes a lot of time for his students. If you take advantage of the help he offers outside of class you will excel in his class.

Dr. Curtis was one of the best professors I've had! He really made an effort to make sure his students were understanding the material (as long as you showed an interest in learning) and was very fair with his grading. His final was tough, but doable! Would definitely recommend.

I only recommend taking Dr. Curtis if you really want to learn advanced math. He definitely knows his stuff. Test are rigorous, but directly reflect what you learned in class. Overall, a good professor.

He was really nice and helpful, but calculus is calculus! He was always willing to help if you had questions. You could even email him over the weekend and he would get back to you very promptly. If you need to take math, take Dr. Curtis, he is really great! If I had to take more math I would take him again.

Seriously. How can you have an A at midterms and then fail the class. I am not happy. This tells you how awful of a teacher he is. I am not the only student who has had this issue. It's like it slaps you in the face after all the drop dates. You feel pretty good like you might get an A, and then it's like trig on steroids for the second half!

The lectures for his online trig class were pretty painful to sit through. I tried to take his MATH 130 class in a previous semester, but dropped for the same reason. Nice guy, but the way in which he explains things is clear as mud. Take someone else if you can.

Awesome Teacher! I love how he teaches. He lays everything out for you, and lets you know when everything is due so you don't forget. I recommend to take any classes with him.
