This is by far the worst class i have EVER taken in my life. She is extremely unclear with assignments, and grading. If you email her for help, she is even more unclear than her assignment. If you like talking to a brick wall yeah sure email her. If you do get an email, you will be even more confused. If you like your GPA do NOT take her.

Very hard to pass her class with at least a B. Her grading criteria is super hard and I tried my very best and still didnt get the grade I knew I deserved

Comment:

Not the worst professor at MSU but not the best either. There are at least 2 homework assignments a week that are 11/2-2 pages long. Of course the 3 main essay throughout the semester are similar to writ105. I do appreciate when she would assign the papers she would provide a lot of questions under the assignment to help lengthen it.

Comment:

This class was honestly way more than it should have been. It was a gen ed and she graded like everyone was a writing major. Work on your essay do all the homework AND DONT MISS CLASS IT WILL AFFECT YOUR GRADE. If you dont get an A dont be upset, she is an extremely hard grader. However she is also very kind and makes the class fun.

Comment:

Love her as a person. Kind, funny, helpful. But, this is not an easy class. Writing assignments are due every class and the three large essays take quite a bit of time and thought. If you're already a good writer, you'll be fine. However, those in my class with less developed skills struggled a lot with her grading. Be prepared for constant work.

The most work I have EVER had in any class. The amount of writing and reading she assigns is borderline impossible to complete. And on top of this she is an extremely strict grader. Generally nice woman but I would not take her again. Especially if you have weak ears because she SCREAMS the whole lecture.

Mrs. Philips is a really great teacher. She is willing to put in the extra time to help her students improve and it shows. However she does give homework every class that is due the following day you meet. I would recommend taking her.

She's a nice person but gives way too much homework, especially as a genereal education class. I spent most of my week doing her assignments alone. Her last essay prompt was also difficult to understand and did not make sense even after she explained it more.

Cool woman. Pretty interesting. Gives good feedback. Gives way too much homework for a gen ed though. Counting my assignments I wrote 14 2 page responses as well as 5 essays with 5 page minimum. (longest essay was 9 pages). Every class homework is due.

Professor Phillips is a great professor and I would take her again in a heartbeat! However, this course is NOT easy. She is a tough grader yet gives excellent feedback, get ready to do A LOT of homework (every class meeting homework is due). She uses all of her allotted time, gives very clear directions, and is willing to help IF YOU ASK!

i was so nervous for this class, writing isn't my strong point. she turned out too be so sweet, sucks that you're not allowed to choose your professor for the course, but definitely reach out to her if possible! lots of papers but they're super easy, she's lenient as heck. don't know if quizzes or tests are a thing but we never had one :)

I took this class my freshman year, and I honestly enjoyed going to class everyday. She is a very educated individual who tries to help you no matter what and gives great feedback. She's extremely nice and has a good sense of humor which will make the class more enjoyable. As expected of a writing class, she does assign a lot of homework.

Donna was great! She does talk a lot but that wasted class time. I was on my phone a lot with my headphones in and she didn't seem to mind. She's very nice and easy.

She is a professor I would never take AGAIN! I don't recommend her. If you can handle a hard, disrespectful, and rude professor then I say take her. HYbrids try not to take with her, everyday is either homework or online class. BUT AGAIN I WOULD NEVER TAKE HER AGAIN!
