BEWARE: Save yourself the headache and stress by not registering for this class! Yeah she is nice and caring, but studying for exams is a such a pain because she isn't specific on what she wants you to focus on. Exam reviews and "study questions"are useless. PPT info isn't the same in the text. (FYI this is my first professor rating.) Goodluck!

She's definitely a nice and caring teacher. Her tests are fairly difficult though. Knowing the study guide questions will probably just get you a B. Her wording on the tests can be tricky (when it comes to m/c) and it is mostly free response. Book is practically mandatory, since she says that she can't go over everything. Good luck!

Spanggord is a very nice teacher, she's willing to help and answer questions if you ask her. But she doesn't like to repeat herself, especially if you weren't listening to her in the first place. Her tests aren't hard, but you have to do a lot of reading on your own to pass the class. Her lectures are okay, but her reviews are useless.

If you want tho get an A, this is not a class you want to registered for. Doris is a very kind teacher but her test are extremely hard, very detailed oriented. Tests are mostly fill in the blank, short answers and little multiple choices. She expects you to know pretty much everything she says in both lecture and lab. I had a B in the class.

Microbiology will be difficult regardless of which professor you have. Be able to commit the time to memorize the lecture slides, add good notes and make flashcards. Book wasn't needed. Labs are little easier. Doris is super friendly! Her tests aren't easy but they're not impossible either. I did well but it was fair work. Would recommend her!

Her tests are horrible. The reviews before the test do not help at all. You just have to pay attention in class and memorize everything she says. Say good bye to your life because for the quarter your life will revolve around this class. Attendance is mandatory or else you will fail.

She is really nice, but her tests are SUPER hard! They are very detailed exams, her reviews don't even help that much. For this class you will have to say goodbye to social life and completely surrender yourself to the subject. Very, Very challenging class.

She is really nice BUT her tests are vicious! Really hard exams, material is hard enough the exams make it worse. 2 lecture exams and a final and 1 lab exam 2 quizzes and a report and final. She is really helpful or tries to help. Read ahead of time, pay attention during lecture and say goodbye to weekends out. This will suck up all fun for the qtr

Doris is very kind and loves to teach the subject. She covers what is needed for tests but it's just a difficult subject. The exams are very detailed and you need a lot of time to study and learn the material. Be prepared to work your butt off.

Very clear and helpful. But very detailed exams-- only 3 people got As in her class this past quarter. Since it's a 6 unit class, don't make the mistake of taking 21 units b/c you'll need a lot of studying time devoted to this class. Loved the class!!

She is so lovely! She knows what she is teaching. Her tests can be hard if you don't know the subject well enough. Those who say she is hard, they are just lazy and they just rely on easy multiple choice questions. Hey, if you are in the health field, life threatening situations won't be based on multiple choice. Learn it, know it, and memorize it.

Very helpful, warm, and engaging. She truly wants her students to do well. Her exams and labs are fair - the material is difficult as it is - but she makes it as painless as possible. If you want to do well-study. Plain and simple people, this is college. She sometimes gets lengthy in lecture style, but it's her intent that makes it all achievable.

My recommendation is not to take her (extremely hard exams, mostly essays plus fill-in-blanks and tricky Mul.choice, even the 2nd lecture exam she gives you 46 mul. choices plus heavy written package, the lab exam and lab final were awfully hard and unclear. Now comes the Winter Grade, out of 27 students, mostly Cs, only 3 got As, and 5 failed.

3 lecture exams and the final, 50 multiple choice based on her class lecture powerpoints that she posts online & chapters from the book, as well as some stuff from lab. Easy labs, easy worksheets to fill out. Her lectures are pretty boring though, and reading definitely helps on exams, compared to just lecture notes.

She is a great teacher!!! You have to attend lectures and take great notes. Go to the tutoring sessions and do the review questions. Tutoring helped me get an idea as what to expect for the test. Doris really knows her material, but you have to study to get an A grade.

Just an advice, take O'Brien if you want an A or a B grade. If you want a C, then take Spanggord. Don't get me wrong, Spanggord is a great and awesome teacher, but if you're like me that wants an awesome teacher and at the same time get an A grade, don't take her. oh by the way, i got an A+ with O'Brien and just averaged B with her,big difference
