Toughest grader I've had at NE State. I would bet back an essay with feedback that just says "Excellent" with maybe one or two typos pointed out and I would still only get a 90. Gives an absolute TON of extra credit. Enough to bring up a couple of letter grades. Really nice, knowledgeable, and professional.

Dr. Toye's lectures are both informative and interesting; he definitely keeps your attention. However, take incredibly detailed notes. His tests and assignments are essays and if you don't write enough or the paper isn't packed FULL of information you won't make an A. Definitely the toughest tests I've taken at NESCC.

Toye knows History well. He is helpful, offers some extra credit which I recommend doing. Timely with posting grades and responding to emails. He says you're not penalized for not knowing info on his essay tests BUT you are penalized for not knowing enough. My grades always stayed within 1-2 points of each other. Need to write A LOT of info.

This is the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. The exams are open book/note. I used every scrap of information I could find and STILL couldn't get an A. Despite my hard work, and believe me I worked hard, I learned nothing. This was frustrating and pointless. This is the ONLY grade below an A I have ever made.

I took US History as an online class. There is Lots and Lots if reading. Toye gives essay only exams, but he gives you a study guide of the possible exam topics (he chooses from the study guide). I found his online lecture reading quite interesting. He was great with communicating via email, and timely with grades. I am going to take him again.

Dr. Toye is extremely knowledgeable in history. His class is lecture heavy and he expects a lot on written assignments and exams. Use Tegrity to listen to his lectures while studying for exams, they are an excellent source for obtaining information that is not in the book. Overall he is very fair and a great Professor.

I had Dr. Toye for both World Histoy one and two. His classes are not the easiest in the world, but if you take him then you will learn a lot.

I am a very good student, and I managed an A in this class, but this class was TERRIBLE! Prof. Toye gives boring lectures, does not respond well to questions, and his tests are all essay. He is unclear of his expectations and grades harshly. I learned very little and only made an A because I write well. Most others made less despite their hard work

Brilliant Professor, and he loves history so he's very passionate. His tests are essay, but you can do well as long as you fully respond to the question. Remember to address who, what, where, when, why/how? and you'll do well.

I worked my heart out for this class. No matter how thorough I tried to be, he always found something to say I left out or did not cover well enough. If I were writing a Master Level Thesis I would expect this type of scrutiny. When numerous papers are required for an entrance level course, I believe it is UNFAIR to grade someone down like he does.

Very hard on essay grading. He expects a professional essay with no details left out! All tests are essay form, although its a lot of writing he seems to make sure people pass.

I don't like History, but this teacher beats them all. His grading is based on criteria that he starts the class saying won't count off. He likes to rant in class about private matters of rulers, that have nothing to do with the class itself. When asked for advise on how to improve the test grades, he replies that you should be fine with B.Horrible.

Easy to contact and get along with.Tests are all essays and he's very picky on details.Grading scale is weird.Get excellents on your essays, but you can't seem to get up to at least a B?Judging by everyone else's scores, he seemed determined to let anyone have a decent grade.I will avoid taking another of his classes if at all possible.

He was difficult only in the work that he required. He was there when you needed him and even sent out reminders of tests and assignments due. The tests were all essay and he was a little picky. If you decide to take him be prepared to read your material and be clear and deep in your essays and on the essay tests. There is extra credit that isnt ve

I took this teacher's class online for U.S. Hist 1 & 2 and it was very labor intensive! So if you are looking for an easy class...look elsewhere!Had to write several essays, tests were essay form and hard, and the reading is unreal!Good Luck!
