Comment:
This course costs nearly $1,000, however, you could purchase the book for $200 and get the same experience. The professor puts in zero effort aside from a weekly email. You have to teach yourself everything! The professor posts no lectures, no Zoom sessions, and when you email him he is short and relatively unhelpful. P.S. exam is lockdown & camera

VERY HARD TO GET ALONG WITH. I have a Mac computer (which when starting the program, told was fine) and now I need a windows to complete the class. Expects you to buy a brand new computer for a class that is starting the next day. No compassion, even when you try to give him advice for future courses.

Honestly one of the toughest courses I took and he wasn't great at clearly explaining the content. Just have to rely on being ahead of the curve and utilizing the practice exams but if you have the opportunity to take with someone else I'd strongly recommend doing so.

Prof Strong is a caring guy & is def hilarious and shows his good side in 486. Tests are tough but manageable. Do the Becker practice tests to study. We also had pre-HW and post-HW that was due every week, easy stuff though. He also had us work in groups for a software called IDEA which is nice to boost your grade up a bit.

This class is way harder than 381. The class grading was strictly on 3 tests only. He does curve a lot since that's the only way most people can get the required C in this class. Otherwise, his tests were all multiple choice, study the Becker and Wiley Plus practice tests that are multiple choice!!! Decent guy, just a hard subject to teach, imo.

DON'T TAKE CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR! This guy does not care about you and your grades. he will not be accessible even if you want to set up an appointment he wont let you. he does not help at all and in the end you have to end up teaching yourself. if there was a zero to give him for rating i would have because even 1 is a lot for him.

I took ACCT 292 with him online. It wasn't bad; grading was only on 11 homework assignments and 11 quizzes for each chapter. The homework was all on Wiley and wasn't too bad. I found the quizzes to be a little tough because they're a lot of equation/long problems and the quizzes were timed (40 minutes for 20 questions). He also wasn't very helpful!

Professor Joel Mathew Strong is the single greatest professor I have ever had. He cares so much about you and you passing his class. he will treat you just like you are his kid. Yeah don't believe take his class for yourself. P.S he is a very attractive man. You don't get bored in his class you get lost in his eyes.

382 is waaayy harder then 381. Times your study time by at least two. Joel is a very good teacher, but he expects you to know everything. He doesn't mean it in a mean way, he just wants you to learn. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Only way you will pass.

He definitely knows the material, but just expects you to know it. Doesn't ever teach. Just talks (yells) at class. If you ask a question he makes you feel stupid for asking. Would never recommend taking him but he is the only option.

Comment:
Strong is very knowledgeable and he clearly knows his material. That being said, his style of teaching is a brutal (loud) assault of problems straight out of the book in rapid fire fashion. This class is definitely harder than 381. But not as dangerous, due to the curve. If you passed 381, you have the skills required to make it through 382.

Strong is a knowledgable professor that will help you if you take initiative. Sit in the front, ask questions, be attentive. He notices. Study your ass off. Accounting was not made to be easy. Always answers emails timely. Helpful, but concise. Large curve at end of class.

Be prepared to work for your grade. Strong is a tough but fair professor. What he teaches in class is what you'll need to know. If you study the homework and test prep from D2L and online source you'll do well. Strong will appreciate a class that reads the chapter before class time, so that you aren't completely clueless.

Dr. Strong is a great professor. He makes accounting very clear and ensures that you know the material. Read the chapter prior to class, he likes when students show that they have some knowledge of the material and aren't completely oblivious. Fair grader, average amount of homework, quizzes are straight forward. Would definitely take again.

Strong is a great teacher, especially for 382. He motivated me to do well in the class. If you pay attention to what he says the first week on how to do well in the class, it really helps out! Tough class! But if you practice a lot on the CPA practice tests and go through his notes, you can do better than average.

I think Professor Strong is easily misunderstood because of his personality. Yes, he can be loud and abrupt, however this does not take away from the fact that he is a great professor. He knows his stuff, prepares handouts for homework and can actually teach if you PAY ATTENTION. This is by no means an easy class but putting in the work pays off.

Read the text before class, print the problem set and bring with you to class so you can make notes on it, do the homework problems assigned and use the online companion practice and you will do good. Grades based on online quizzes and in class tests (notecard is allowed for tests), grades on a curve. He knows his stuff!

Worst professor I've ever had. It was really hard to follow him in class because you barely had time to write down how to solve a problem in order to do the homework later. So, I didn't learn much from him, but he expects you to just know everything instead of teaching you. Tests were tough no matter how much studying I did, which was awful.
