I loved her. I had to take the class online but she made it enjoyable for everyone. She was funny but also knew what she was talking about and was a wonderful teacher. She gave us two essays to read between every class and then spent class discussing them. We were assigned four papers to write and our final included another paper of our choice.

syllabus and reading schedule were 2 weeks late. each unexcused absence is 2 points off final grade. LOTS of reading but only talks about sex and religion during class. sweet lady but boring. 1 big perk is she gives you possible essay test questions a week before to prepare. show up and talk and shell probably grade your essays well

This professor believes that no freshman can write better than a C+ quality so thats basically where your grade starts. She doesn't put grades in until the day before final grades are due so you cant do anything to improve your grade. Only assigns 4 grades per semester. Does not teach you anything you mostly go to class and listen to her talk.

Extremely straightforward class. I honestly don't understand all of the hate. Here's the formula; get assigned a reading in class, go home and read it, come to the next class period and discuss it. That's literally it. Eventually you'll write a paper on the (very interesting) readings with a topic of Grover's choice. Just read and you'll be fine.

This professor gives 4 grades all semester. She also believes that freshmen writers should not make better than a C so this is how she grades. It is very hard grading and she doesn't teach a single thing. Most days you just go in and listen to her talk about stuff that had nothing to do with that class.

Her grading is based off of her personal feelings/ values. She goes on rants which end up lasting the whole class period. She never teaches anything, just sits and talks about controversial issues the entire class period. She let a student eat an entire meal from McDonald's in her classroom, but made me eat my banana outside of the classroom.

A lot of discussion about controversial topics, she doesn't really teach students how to write a successful paper and then grades subjectively. I received a grade of C on all of my papers in her class and ended up with a grade of C in the class. In the english class I am in now, I get A's on all of my papers. This class will hurt your GPA.

I have taken Ms. Grover for multiple courses. At first it can be intimidating but, at the core she really just wants to see you grow. I took her for my first, middle and last english courses and throughly enjoyed all of them. THESE ARE NOT EASY CLASSES.

I have always been impressed by ETSU's English professors until I took Professor Grover. I didn't mind the exorbitant reading load at all; I simply found her to be demeaning to all opinions that were not her own. She discusses little other than the sexual aspects of books, and I will not be taking her again, nor can I recommend her as a professor.

I was not challenged to be a better writer in this class. She says she will help you progress, not so much. Expect during class to go on tangits that last the whole class period. don't sit up front or make eye contact if you don't want to be the star of the class. She will tear you apart with grading your writing but is vague on how to fix it.

Easily one of the most uncomfortable classes I've ever taken. Seemingly in an attempt to grab student's attention, the professor either curses or brings up a sexual topic at least once per class. She's sweet, but very opinionated. Never gives an A on your first paper and critiques large vocabulary. Prepare to discuss social issues, not your writing

Don't take unless you're a serious student. College is not easy. You have to read a ton, and your papers will be graded harshly. Your in-class discussions better be good, and you better attend class, or you're not passing. With that said, I loved her. She gives great feedback on writing and is not afraid to discuss controversial topics.

I've been in her class for 12 weeks and have gotten one paper back. No one in my class has an A - very tough grader. She's a sweet lady but does the most considering its a gen ed. Don't recommend because you have to work hard for it. Assigns short readings. She won't give you writing help until shes already graded and returned a paper. Not helpful

I enjoyed her class. She spent a long time grading papers, so it took forever to get them back. And she gave a C for each one because she wanted you to "improve." She gave the opportunity for corrections, but she never gave back half of the papers we wrote.

Yes, Ms. Grover is a tough grader. However, if her feedback is incorporated and applied there are many important lessons to be learned regarding writing. She has a wonderful personality but a zero level for tolerance or disrespect, as it should be. I would choose her as a professor again if given the chance.

During my time at ETSU, I have never met an instructor that made me feel uncomfortable in class. The only thing I remember discussing in this class was the sexual material in everything we read. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it was English or Sex Ed. She was not lenient or willing to help you. Do not take her class if you can help it.

I wrote the best papers I could. I had people double check for errors. She still found things wrong. Extremely picky. I made A's in all my English classes in high school but make a C in this class. A GPA KILLER!!!

Professor Grover is a mediocre teacher. She is very nice, but her teaching style is average. Their is a three-six page essay due every two weeks. Also, If you miss more than nine class meetings, you don't get the credits. Also, she's an extremely tough grader. I wouldn't t take this class again.

Ms. Grover is extremely sweet and extremely helpful. I would say the only reason not to take this class is if you are looking for a guaranteed A in the class because she takes a really long time getting papers back. If you just want a fun literature class I would take her. Reading assignments are fun but she assigns a lot(dont have read them all)
