Comment:
Professor Yee was a nice guy but weak teacher. He let his students talk over him during lecture, cheat, eat food/drinks in lab, etc. You're basically on your own in lab, no demos, but he is available for questions. Find a good study group, read the textbook, and/or go to SI if you want to actually learn.

Yee is a respected chemistry professor, but you can tell the switch to online teaching is not his thing. The assignments are clear but the grading is pretty tough. If you forget the smallest of details, the answer is wrong. You will have a lab, quiz, and a OLI quiz (like homework) due every week as well as a little blog, take CHMM1A elsewhere.

I took Mr. Yee's Chem 1A class and he really made me enjoy chemistry, as long as you pay attention you will understand the material. He gives a quiz every week but it helps you retain the info he's teaching and you can re-take every quiz later in the semester.

I had Mr. Yee for 2 years and he was an alright teacher. You have no other choice in Ochem but him. I felt that he didn't teach me much and it was more me at home learning by myself. All he carried was if I showed up for exam and quizzes. Going to SI helped so much.

Prof Yee is a great chem instructor. Although, I only had him for lecture, I understood almost every topic. We had homework due before lecture, if we had any questions we would go over it together as a class. If some objectives were not clearly understood he would go over it again until understood. We had quizzes for every 2 objectives. Easy hw.

Mr. Yee is the best Chemistry professor at Hartnell College! He is always there to help out the students and doesn't mind explaining the concepts a few times if the students don't understand. He really cares about his students and he wants everyone to pass, that is if he sees you make an effort.

Comment:
The difficulty in this class stems from the exams and quizzes themselves but not so much the material that is taught. Once you learn and understand the material, make sure you find ways to apply that knowledge universally. In other words waste no time only learning, but make sure you know how to apply what is learned.

One of my favorite professors in Hartnell! Everything you learn in 12B builds upon itself, INCLUDING stuff from 12A. Lots of logical thinking. Reading the book really helps! Quizzes/exams are hard so be prepared. Labs were really confusing but Yee would always be there if you're stuck; so, don't be afraid to ask A LOT! Tough grader though! o u o

Mr. Yee is downright one of the best professors at Hartnell. Is is extremely intelligent and one of the funniest and nicest science teachers at Hartnell. I am taking Chemistry 1B with him and I learned a lot. But this class is not easy. It's far from easy. All quizzes and tests are open notes and open book but the question are very tough.

Mr. Yee is a wonderful chemistry professor! He is very intelligent and he is very good teacher. On the other hand it is close to impossible to get an A. It is a tough class. All tests and quizzes are open book but the question are very tough and very critical thinking based.

Attend all SI sessions available, practice reaction mechanisms & retro-synthetic approaches. Never skip lab. Never skip reading. Practice practice practice. (Remember to go outside -of the text- and identify organic compounds in the real world) You can do this!

Mr. Yee is cool and funny. He can have a temper if you try to kiss butt or try to be smart with him. His class isn't as hard as people say but you learn a lot. Understand all the concepts if you want an A

This is chemistry of course it is going to be difficult. Lectures are not as important, labs are mandatory because this is where the learning happens. Read your books take notes, know the formulas, and have a detailed understanding of the concepts. Tests are open book, but that means nothing if you do not understand the concepts. Mr. Yee is da best

Great teacher! Class in pretty easy, he goes over everything a million times so for sure you will get the material. He has office hours and is always willing to help you, even after class or during the lab. I actually never read the book, or used it, his lectures were self explanatory. Also offered extra credit. Best class I've had so far.

When i took this course, SI was not available, it was difficult. MrYee was available to all students via email. He is not harsh on attendance. He does not require you to take a Final: if you do well throughout the semester. Your grade depends on your HOMEWORK, CLASSWORK, and EFFORT. He is known to bump ur grade up IF YOU WORK HARD. MrYee is great!
