Comment:

Mike is a great professor. I learned so much in his class and became a much better public speaker because of him. He requires you to write and deliver multiple speeches, and they have to be good. But he is a very fair grader. If you try relatively hard in this class then you will succeed. He has very reasonable expectations.

Comment:

I took this class the Fall 2014 semester. He did not require us to buy a textbook. Instead, he had us buy a cheap stack of hole-punched papers that have all the material needed for the class in them. Class was very fun and entertaining, but I also learned a lot. Instead of tests, we acted out scenarios with him and other classmates.

Absolutely fabulous instructor. Really brings his lectures down to a personal level, and will take time to make sure you're getting what you need in his class. I wish that I could take more classes with him!

Awesome teacher. He made a summer class very enjoyable, and makes his assignment expectations very clear. You will get a lot out of this class, and he makes it a great atmosphere to be in.

Mike was absolutely one of the most amazing professors I've ever had. In just one month, the confidence he helped me build was astounding. His class was so fun. You'll do speeches every night of the class, but he's very helpful with the feedback. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he's more than willing to help. HIGHLY recommend!

Three role plays throughout the year, one is optional in place of a test. A couple of writing assignments and one big one. Very opinionated and sometimes that offends people. Otherwise a great instructor, better than any of the others teaching this same course I heard.

Mikes a great teacher, funny, and is extremely passionate about what he does. He give you great feedback, but don't expect an easy A. You have to work for it! (I got a B. The grade thing isn't working)

He's an awesome guy. He made me actually enjoy public speaking. He is very clear with what he expects from students. He isn't the easiest grader, but if you prepare well you will do just fine. His textbook is just a packet so it's really cheap. Highly recommend him.

He makes his own packet (for $14 instead of the $100+ normal textbook) and he also will give you a free older public speaking textbook if you ask. He gives you tons of feedback and has extra credit available so if someone wants to they can get an A. He is friendly and funny as well. I would highly recommend him to any student.

Mike's class is easy because there is only one test and that is optional. The only thing that you have to turn in is one-page journals and one 5-page essay about yourself. He is super hilarious and very controversial. Best Interpersonal Communication Class at Normandale, really take it!!

He is an awesome teacher. Too bad he is retiring! I really liked him he is clear and kept me awake for a four hour class! Although the topics he brings up made me blush and feel embarrassed at times, I still learned a lot.

Very organised professor. He is also a good entertainer. he makes a 4hrs lesson to be a 2o mins. i took the class in the summer; was full of fun.if you need an interesting proffesor; dont miss him.

Mike is a really good professor! He makes his class interesting, and makes sure that people understand deadlines to projects. If people don't pay attention or work on other classes assignments, he will confront you in front of the other class. So, come to class. YOU WILL WANT TO! And even though notes don't need to be taken it is recommended. TAKE!

Best teacher I've had in a long time. He made a booklet of all the textbook/readings/etc so we didn't have to buy an expensive textbook we'd never use. Took a class I had no interest in and made it my favorite class. TAKE HIS CLASS. His focus was on learning how to communicate instead of learning definitions. Real world applications.

Public speaking was the second class I took from mike, I also took non verbal. He is an expert professor, very knowledgeable, funny, interesting and challenging. Be prepared to be challenged in a very positive way, consistent with college level expectations. Make sure to watch your attendance. Very handsome too.

public speaking was great! I learned a ton. But don't expect to get an easy A. This is a class where you work and learn, not a class where you slack of and get an A. Make sure you show up to class or I guarantee your grade will drop! Very humorous as well.

Fun class, he's funny and easy to listen to. I'm glad i took it. the only thhing i didn't like was at one point he graded us on our speech in front of the class and was VERY harsh. made one girl cry :(

Impossible to please. Your opinion never matters, It's all about him. His standards are unrealistic when compared to the real world. If you have to take this class do not select this instructor, You do not get your moneys worth out of what you have to pay for tuition. Standards are not clear and grading seems to be on a whim.
