She was a great professor, I learned a lot in her class about sociology. She gives online quizzes before every class about the readings that were assigned. If you do not like to talk or participate, this class is not for you, participation is a very big part of your grade. She also lets you use a study guide for the exams, so take lots of notes.

Also, for her readings - you need to learn time management. Don't be dumb & wait till last minute. You can email her and she will 100% respond and probably even ask for you to meet her for her to help. She really is there for you. I talked to her about nonacademic things too and she helped me. She's also an Associate Dean so get on her good side.

If you're a bum who still thinks you're in High School, don't take her. Otherwise, if you want to learn, take her. Even as a first year seminar I learned so much from this women because she is so intelligent and articulate. She's 100% there for you when you need help & clear with what she wants. It's college & she does her job correctly. Loved her.

Absolutely hated this class. She is very rude. There is this one big paper she has you do about how sociology affects your life and she expects you to give out personal information otherwise you fail that paper. Quizzes were really unnecessary and readings were so long. Gets very annoyed if you don't participate.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!! HARDEST CLASS EVER!! She gives an unreasonable amount of work, at least 40 pages of reading every week, quizzes twice a week, tests are so so hard if you don't "have a mind like a sociologist" which no one has except her!!!!

I went into the class knowing nothing about sociology, and by the end, she was telling me to pick it up as a major or minor. I loved this class so much. She's so smart, and she puts everything in really easy terms that make it impossible to be confused. The reading responses look daunting, but you get used to it and they become second nature.

Dr. Mezey is by far the best professor I have ever had here at MU. She is so intelligent, and she doesnt sugar coat her facts; she is very forward. I want to applaud everytime she teaches. If you're taking any sociology or gender studies class, you MUST take her because you will learn so much.

Dr. Mezey is a remarkable sociology professor. Of course most of the negative reviews stem from students who are lazy and hate work, in a COLLEGE course. This class isn't offered every semester but when it is, take her! In general, she teaches most of her classes the same. Lots of readings, but thorough analytical thinking. She's truly amazing.

one of the best!! yes lot of readings and tests are hard. pay attention and take notes and youll do fine. she gives you every outline on ecampus..print them out! funny smart and kind. willing to help everyone! gives lots of extra credit. changed my view on the subject matter of gender studies. i love going to her class...always fun and informative.

GREAT Professor! Really interested in what she is teaching. A lot of reading but it's interesting material. 2 papers which are graded pretty hard, and 3 multiple choice tests that are pretty easy if you read the material. Probably my favorite class of the semester, extremely interesting & informative but DO NOT take if you're lazy!!

I love her! Attend class and do the extra credit she offers, and you'll do fine. She does assign a lot of reading but you only have to know the basics of what it's about. And she doesn't quiz you on them. She's super helpful and understanding and makes all sociology classes very interesting. I like her perspective.

Dr. Mezey is awesome. She is very down to earth and will help you with anything if you ask. She always answers questions and is more than willing to see you outside of class. She is very intelligent and funny. However, if you are lazy and do not do work, don't take her. She assigns interesting readings. I highly recommend her.

She is a great lasy, she isnt easy though. There is a LOT of reading and she expects everyone to talk in class...so if you take her, do the readings and try to talk in class.
