Uhlmann is Silicon Valley meets Wall Street. The guy lives in 2050. Knows exactly whats going to happen in the market weeks before it actually happens. He is too smart to be a teacher. It's hard for him to dumb stuff down so make sure you ask a lot of questions. Prob would have failed his class with a 20% if it wasn't for corona.

Professor Uhlmann is a great guy and probably the smartest professor I have ever taken. He teaches a lot of real-world trade finance and makes you be aware of the market everyday. All his tests and projects are related to something you will do in the real word. Might have a lot of work from his class and exams might be difficult but worth it!

The man who teaches the real world stuff with his experience in the financial world. Treat his homework like projects, IT'S A LOT. Cheat sheet allowed for the exams. If you truly want to build a solid finance fundamentals, then take him and follow his instructions. You will not regret. If you just do not want to work for your grade, then skip him.

Took for 1-week intensive. Really liked the guy. My one qualm is that he didn't do enough practice problems for the exam and focused on anecdotes about his personal life. Yet the exam wound up being much easier than expected so I guess it evened out. Has a great dry sense of humor.

Professor Uhlmann is the best professor at Bentley. He is totally invested in you and your success, so put your time in. He is intelligent, realistic and challenging. Speak up with your thoughts and ideas. He's impeccably devoted office hour time, and makes himself available for each and every student. I consider myself lucky to have known him.

Took him for this class and his FI787 summer intensive class. Both are pretty much the same, expect with different cases. Phil did a great job relating the content of the classes (the cases), into understandable pieces of material. He actually connected the classes to the real world. He's a very respectable guy and truly cares about his students.

I graduated in 2013 and only came across this because my cousin is currently a Sr. and asked me about professor Uhlmann. He was one of the top three professors I had in my 4 years (the other 2 being Gregory for finance and Snyder for Economics). I would absolutely recommend his class if you actually want to learn and earn your grade.

Professor Uhlmann is one of the smarter guys at Bentley, and despite what others say, his lectures are good. If you enjoy learning and put work in for the projects and tests, you will take a lot away from this course. Not a lot of homework, but a fair amount of time is necessary to complete projects outside of class. Highly recommend.

He is a very hard professor, but you will learn a lot. He is very smart, and teaches very useful information during his lectures. However, what people should know is that he expects you to fill in the blanks outside of class. The book actually helps with this(Use it!) , and do not take him if you just want an easy A. Take him if you want to learn

He's a brilliant professor, he is one of the most knowledgeable professor's I've ever had at Bentley. His class is tough don't get me wrong, but you will learn so much in this class. He's always available for office hours and questions. This class will be tough regardless the professor so take Uhlmann it'll be worth your time

Would not recommend. All he talks about is current events and you end up teaching yourself all of the important material for the projects and homeworks. He cold calls on people in class and expects us to come up with ridiculous answers that none of us could've possibly known. The words he chooses make it hard to follow his lectures.

I took him for a one week intensive and he is a great guy, you get out of this class what you put in. Lectures can be boring but his assignments are not too bad. He really cares about the students, the intensive is not too bad, especially since the final is due on the last day of class. All group projects but an individual final, not bad got a 3.3

Uhlmann's a tricky professor. He asks really difficult questions in class and it seems like he thinks his students are way smarter than they are. Many times his questions are met with blank stares and silence. HOWEVER his tests/projects aren't too difficult, and he really is a good guy. +1 he has a dog that sometimes comes to class

Professor Uhlmann definitely knows his stuff, but asks a lot of questions. Class is difficult and you should definitely not miss any classes if you want to do well on the exams. He's always willing to help and gives great for advice on anything. Great finance professor and I would definitely take him again.
