Marg is the nicest lady you will ever meet. She has tons of real teaching experience and uses these anecdotes to teach us how to teach ELA. I found her to be a easyish marker but I also worked hard in that class, so maybe fair is a better qualification. It crushes my heart that she is retiring before my APT classes.

Take if you want two practicums and only 7 days for learning. If you want to learn on the first day of a 5 week class that for three weeks you will be assisting at Mckernan. You will learn that you will be teaching everyday for 3 weeks doing lesson plans and assessments. You won't learn anything relevant. Our schedule changed 3 times. Awful.

AVOID at all costs! Honestly, THE WORST class I've ever had to endure. Teacher talks AT students for hours on end. No focus or structure to classes. Very little group work, and all group discussions were still very teacher-dominated. Looked at the curriculum ONCE. No visual aides, no reading list, no discussion of textbook. Extremely inefficient.

I was extremely disappointed with this class. I found Marg to be somewhat bi-polar. She was awesome if you were a favorite, but a witch if you were not in her good books. She dropped my GPA and I am really angry. I worked my butt off for nothing than to listen to her go on and on and on and on about how wonderful SHE was. I hope whe quits soon.

Dr. Iveson is a fantastic prof. She is one of the most helpful profs I have ever had and genuinely wants to get to know you and assist in any way she can. Though marking is slow, I would love having more classes with her as she has many, many practical ideas and experiences to share that can be incorporated into any classroom.

Directions are very unclear. Activities in class had no relation to actual teaching. HAd to learn everything during practicum. She is willing to help out a lot though. Good ideas and stories. Very slow at handing back assign/grades.

I thought she was a pretty good prof and had a lot of good ideas and strategies for LD kids, which I still use when I am teaching. Very informative.

I strongly disliked this prof. I found our time at McKernan a waste of my tuition money. I get enough practice student teaching, I want to learn for my curriculum class dollars. Found her rude and a bit arrogant.

She was a a great help when I had problems because of my learning disablities. She encouraged discussions among my classmates so we learned different points of view.

Don't expect your assignments to be marked until after the final exam. She is nice, but not very efficient.

  1. It is apparent her son (the mayor of Edmonton lol) gets his lack of skill from his mother, and the inflated sense of importance, how rich.
